New Swedish technology to support a greener aviation recovery

Flying is like competition sailing: it is all about using good winds and avoiding unfavorable air currents. To allow airlines to fully use the favorable winds there is a new weather optimization service available that shows exactly how the wind blows and where there is bad weather in the atmosphere. With this knowledge airlines can save hundreds of tons of fuel per month which also means less emissions. The best feature of the new optimisation service, delivered by AVTECH Sweden, is that airlines don’t have to make any investments to use it. All heavy calculations are made on the ground and just a small amount of data is uploaded to already existing onboard equipment. Low cost airline Norwegian is acknowledged as one of the most fuel-efficient airlines in the world. The company is also on...

AviaDev, now in its fourth year brings together airports, airlines, tourism bodies and suppliers and customises one-to-one meetings so that new partnerships and routes can be created.  AviaDev’s manag...

Kola Aluko Hails $4.5 Billion Deal for New Refineries

LONDON, July 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Nigerian government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with US firm Vulcan Petroleum Resources and Nigeria's Petroleum Refining and Strategic Reserve to build six new oil refineries in a deal worth $4.5 billion. Two of the plants, each of which will have a capacity of 30,000 barrels per day, are set to be operational within a year. Nigeria - Africa's top oil producer - has been held back by its lack of refining capacity, which has made it a net importer of processed crude and subject to global price fluctuations. Until recently, a generous fuel subsidy protected consumers from high import prices. Though not yet lifted entirely, six months ago President Goodluck Jonathan announced that this support was no longer affordable. Fund...
