Farm CI Emerges Winner at AFEX Code Cash Crop 4.0 Ag-hackathon

Winners received prizes valued at $22,000 in total to scale agriTech solutions in East and West Africa AFEX, Africa’s leading commodities market player, hosted its fourth annual ag-hackathon, Code Cash Crop 4.0, aimed at harnessing the intersection of technology, finance, and agriculture to create a platform for young tech enthusiasts to create viable solutions. This year’s edition drew participation from Kenya, for the first time, following AFEX’s operational expansion into the East African country last year. Applications are now open for elite technologists to enter a global challenge with a prize pot of $10,000. Andela, the global marketplace for remote technical talent, has opened applications for its upcoming EPIC Tournament. In partnership with HackerEarth, the tournament will see elite developers working in teams to prototype solutions that will positively impact the growing global remote workforce. Africa’s largest inter-university hackathon brings students together on Zindi for data science, for good

UmojaHack Africa 2021 was an unprecedented success, bringing more than 1000 students from 126 universities across Africa to compete on Zindi in a virtual machine learning hackathon on the weekend of 27-28 March. More than $10 000 USD in prizes were awarded to data science students from 9 African countries, and more than 8500 submissions were made to solve three real-world machine learning challenges on Zindi.
